Coats for the cold
This year we are helping Spring Hill Elementary and
Fulton High School in addition to Belle Morris Elementary.
Pick up days will be 11/7-11/8
Thanksgiving Boxes
We are sponsoring 55 boxes for Fulton High School.
(They need a total of 110). Distribution will be week of
Nov. 17th. We are housing boxes for Belle Morris
Elementary parents to pick up 11/13
(but no donations are needed)
Hygiene Donations for Fulton High School
Several students are currently experiencing homelessness and many more are in need of basic products.
Half-Day Lunch Carts
Each half day at schools, students are not offered lunch.
Half day carts have been offered at Belle Morris
Elementary with great success. Fulton has also requested half day lunch bags be delivered to them.
Holiday Assistance Store
Belle Morris is offering a store Sat. 12/13 (9am-noon) for parents to shop for holiday gifts at a 90% markdown. Additionally, parents will be offered gift cards for gas, groceries, and utilities.
Volunteering ___________________________
American Red Cross Smoke Alarm Checks and Installation
Sat. 10/4 9am-1pm. Red Cross is asking for volunteers to go door-to-door in Belle Morris neighborhood to check and install smoke alarms for homes. We are hosting volunteer parking in our lot. Volunteers will meet at the
Fire Station.
Fall Festival–Sun. 10/19 4:30-6:00pm
Volunteer sign up link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054BAEAB2FA7FAC34-58065610-fall
Monetary donation/sponsorship on Vanco. Several volunteers are needed as we anticipate 300 attendees.
This is being done in partnership with Edgewood Park and Belle Morris Neighborhood Associations.
English and Wellness Classes
These classes are every Thursday from 9:30-10:30ish. They are ESL (English as a Second Language or English as a Learned Language) classes which also include a component of handling the stress of being in a new country with a different language. Volunteering to attend these classes will allow you a chance to see the work
Cindy Hood does, meet neighbors, and learn a little about new cultures and languages.
E-Knox Digital Literacy Classes
These classes will be Thursdays and Fridays 10:30-Noon and are set to begin on Oct. 16th-Nov. 14th. This is a 5 week session. Students who attend, offer proof of income, and complete 15 hours of computer training will be given free Chromebooks through a grant with the Chamber of Commerce. Volunteering for this will help lead instructors (one being Luci Roller) with students and computer upkeep (the Chromebooks will be housed at church). This is an opportunity to meet those in the community who may have fallen behind digitally and need help catching up.
Community Internet Cafe
These will be on Thursdays from 9am-Noon and are set to begin on Oct. 16th. Volunteering for this will include mingling in the Fellowship Hall with attendees to offer any help with online forms/issues and distribute resource lists. This is a great opportunity to meet and get to know community members as it is not a structured class and you are welcome to chat freely.
Distribution of Thanksgiving boxes at Fulton High School
Transport/drop off of half day lunches at Fulton. Building, transport, and drop off of hygiene items for Fulton Half Day lunch cart at Belle Morris.
Belle Morris Hospitality Cart Days
Last Monday of each month.

Roseanne Wolf Park Work Day
Edgewood Park has adopted Roseanne Wolf Picnic Area Park and received a grant to clean it up. Sat. 10/4 10am-12 is the final day of working to clean up the space. Attending this event will allow friendships with neighbors
Third Saturday Trash Pick-Up
Edgewood Park does trash cleaning days every third Saturday from 9am-10am. They walk about 1.4 miles. All supplies are provided. Attending this event will offer cleaning up our community and foster friendships.
Attending Neighborhood Meetings
Edgewood Park’s next neighborhood meeting is January 20th at 7pm. They meet quarterly and don’t last over an hour. Meetings are at Larry Cox Senior Center.
Belle Morris’s next neighborhood meeting is October 30th at 6:30 pm. They seem to be meeting quarterly but are a newly established group so this may change. Meetings are held at Belle Morris Elementary. Either of these meetings would be a great opportunity to know what is happening in the community and meet neighbors of our church.
